Birba's al fresco patio is one of the most coveted spots in Palm Springs, with string lights overhead, the San Jacintos framing the sky, handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza from a kitchen sourcing local Coachella Valley farms. The menu shifts with the season and has never drifted toward tourist genericness. On weekends local musicians play, but on any night the patio has the warmth of a place that belongs to its community.

OPERATOR STORY

Birba opened in 2011 when the empty lot next to Cheeky's needed to become something. The team built it almost by necessity: cocktails needed a menu, pizza needed sides, and sides became a full kitchen. What emerged was one of Palm Springs' most enduring neighborhood restaurants: al fresco Italian, local farm sourcing, live music on weekends. The same scratch-made ethos that started next door has run continuously here for over a decade.
