EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
The Cabrillo Beachway runs along the Santa Barbara waterfront, a flat paved path edged by tall palms and open Pacific views from East Beach westward past Stearns Wharf and the harbor. Early morning is when the path belongs to locals: pelicans glide low over the water, the Channel Islands emerge from the marine layer, and the Santa Ynez Mountains catch the first light behind the city. The round trip to the harbor and back is roughly four miles and entirely at sea level.
OPERATOR STORY
The Cabrillo Beachway is a City of Santa Barbara public path running along East Cabrillo Boulevard and the waterfront. Maintained by the city's parks department, it connects East Beach to Leadbetter Beach and has been the defining morning ritual of Santa Barbara waterfront life for decades.
