Carlsbad Mineral Water Spa

This is the actual site of the well that gave the town its name, drilled in 1882 and found to share the mineral composition of the famous spa waters of Karlsbad, Bohemia. Private tubs filled with warm alkaline mineral water sit inside small rooms decorated in an old world style, each meant for a slow soak rather than a quick rinse. Massages, facials, and body wraps round out the treatment menu, but the water itself, drawn from nearly a mile underground, is the draw. An outdoor filling station lets visitors fill their own jugs with the same water, something locals do daily. No flash here, just warm water with a deep origin story.

OPERATOR STORY

An independent local couple bought this property in 1993 after the original mineral springs had sat dry for roughly sixty years, then spent years restoring the corroded wells until the water flowed again. They designed the spa's interiors themselves, drawing on Egyptian, Roman, and Mediterranean decorative styles to match the site's old world spa origins. The business remains independently owned, operating on the same parcel where Carlsbad's mineral water was first discovered in 1882.
