Carmel Scenic Bluff Path

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

The Scenic Bluff Path runs along the top of the dunes above Carmel Beach from 8th Avenue south to the Carmel River lagoon, offering elevated views of the full arc of Carmel Bay: Pebble Beach to the north, Point Lobos to the south. The path is paved and accessible. The Carmel River lagoon at the southern end is a protected bird sanctuary worth pausing at.

OPERATOR STORY

The Scenic Bluff Path is maintained by the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea as a public right-of-way above the beach. The Carmel River lagoon at its southern terminus is managed jointly by California State Parks and the Carmel River State Beach program as critical habitat for the federally threatened snowy plover.
