EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Located on Metropole Avenue in the heart of Avalon, the museum holds over 100,000 artifacts, photographs, and documents spanning 8,000 years of island life. The permanent collection moves from the Tongva people through the Banning brothers, the Wrigley family, and the Hollywood stars who made the island famous during its golden age. The Catalina pottery and tile collection is exceptional, and the rooftop garden offers panoramic harbor views that rival anything in Avalon. Rotating art exhibitions keep the program fresh throughout the year. Allow two hours.

OPERATOR STORY

The Catalina Museum for Art & History is the only organization dedicated to presenting the full history of Santa Catalina Island. Founded in 1953 and now housed in the Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building, it operates as a nonprofit and serves both visitors and the island's year-round community with exhibitions, film screenings, lectures, and cultural events.
