EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Chamisal sits along Orcutt Road at the southern end of Edna Valley, its estate vines visible from the tasting room patio where the Santa Lucia foothills rise behind the rows. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have been growing on this particular ground for over 50 years, and the cool maritime air that pushes up from Morro Bay most afternoons is perceptible in every glass. Tastings are unhurried and knowledgeable, offered daily on a patio that gives a clear sense of what the valley actually looks like.

OPERATOR STORY

Chamisal Vineyard was established in 1973 as one of two founding vineyards that put the Edna Valley AVA on the map, making it the oldest vineyard in San Luis Obispo County. Today it produces sustainably farmed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the original estate and is widely regarded as one of the most serious and consistent producers in the appellation.
