The 15-minute bay crossing remains one of the most scenic ways to experience San Diego Bay, with morning departures catching the city skyline in early light. From the Broadway Pier landing, the Embarcadero's waterfront path runs north past the Maritime Museum's tall ships, the USS Midway aircraft carrier, and into the Little Italy neighborhood, a walkable, car-free morning with genuine historic depth.

OPERATOR STORY

Flagship Cruises operates the modern Coronado Ferry under contract with the City of San Diego, maintaining the bay crossing that has been a fixture of Coronado life for over a century. The ferry was discontinued from 1969 to 1987 while the Coronado Bridge drew traffic away, then restored as a public amenity. It remains one of the most affordable and underappreciated ways to experience San Diego Bay.
