Carmel Valley, CA 93924

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Dampierre Park sits just off Carmel Valley Road, where the landscape opens quietly to the Carmel River beneath a canopy of oak and sycamore. Short paths, open grass, and easy access to the water's edge make it a simple entry point into the natural character of the valley. You can follow the river informally, pause in the shade, and settle into the slower rhythm of the valley. Close enough to the village to reach without effort, but far enough to feel removed.

OPERATOR STORY

Dampierre Park is managed by Monterey County Parks as part of a network of small community parks that provide local access to the Carmel River and surrounding open space. These sites are designed for everyday use rather than tourism, maintaining a low-impact presence while preserving the river corridor. The park reflects the county’s role in balancing public access with stewardship of one of the valley’s defining natural systems.
