EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
Field Recordings is tucked inside Tin City, the corrugated warehouse district on the south edge of Paso Robles where roughly 20 independent small-production winemakers operate side by side. The tasting room is casual and unhurried, with none of the production-line feel of larger estate wineries. The wines are sourced from old-vine heritage vineyards across California and taste distinctly of their place rather than of a house style. Open daily from noon.
OPERATOR STORY
Field Recordings was founded in 2009 with a focus on overlooked and undervalued old-vine vineyards across California, the kinds of places most winemakers drove past. Based in Paso Robles, the winery sources fruit from heritage vineyards throughout the state, producing place-driven wines often made from unusual or heirloom varieties. The label was among the early forces in establishing Paso Robles as a serious wine region beyond Cabernet Sauvignon and has become a benchmark for the Central Coast natural wine movement.
