Gyppo Ale Mill sits on the bluff above Shelter Cove with a beer garden facing the Pacific, fire pits, and the kind of easy, unhurried energy that takes hold when a town is genuinely remote. The kitchen cooks from scratch with local seafood, seasonal produce from nearby farms, and a rotating menu that follows what the tide and the season are offering. Twelve house-brewed beers on tap. The outdoor space is large, dog-friendly, and often fills with a mix of locals and travelers who have all made the same drive in.

OPERATOR STORY

Gyppo Ale Mill is an independently owned, woman-led brewery, distillery, and restaurant on the Lost Coast, operating out of Shelter Cove since its founding. The kitchen sources locally and seasonally, with an emphasis on sustainability and from-scratch cooking. Gyppo has become the community gathering place of one of the most remote towns in California, hosting live music and serving as a meeting point for fishing families, hikers, and the small year-round population that calls the Lost Coast home.
