EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
La Bicyclette has occupied the corner of Dolores and 7th Avenue since 1974, a Belgian family bistro whose kitchen leans European country: champignon pizza from a wood-burning oven, steak au poivre, house-made charcuterie, and a menu that shifts with what's seasonal from Monterey County farms. It is the village's most enduring family-run restaurant.
OPERATOR STORY
La Bicyclette opened at Dolores and 7th in 1974 and has been run by the same Belgian-rooted family ever since. The restaurant kept the European country bistro identity it was founded with: Belgian and French roots, Monterey County sourcing, wood-fired pizza. It remains family-owned and independently operated, one of the longest-running restaurants in Carmel, and was named Carmel's Business of the Year in 2019.
