EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Lo-Fi Wines pours five natural wines for $15 while a turntable plays in the corner of a no-frills Bell Street tasting room that feels nothing like the polished estate wineries of the Santa Ynez Valley. The same block holds Casa Dumetz (Grenache and Syrah rose), Bedford Winery (barrel-fermented Chardonnay and Syrah for 30-plus years), and Bodega Los Alamos (open-air garden, hammocks, BYO food from Full of Life Flatbread next door). Lo-Fi is open Friday through Sunday from noon; neighboring producers have varying hours throughout the week.

OPERATOR STORY

Bell Street's tasting room scene grew organically as small Santa Ynez Valley producers began opening storefronts in Los Alamos's historic downtown in the 2000s and 2010s. The result is an unusually concentrated stretch of independent winemakers: Lo-Fi Wines (natural wines poured to a vinyl soundtrack), Casa Dumetz (Grenache and Syrah rose, adjacent to Babi's Beer Emporium), Bedford Winery (serious barrel-fermented Chardonnay and Syrah for 30+ years), and Bodega Los Alamos (open-air wine garden with hammocks, bocce ball, and BYO food). All are independently owned and operated by the winemakers themselves.
