EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
Lola occupies the main dining room of the National Exchange Hotel, with rich colors, period lighting, and the bones of a building that has been feeding travelers since 1856. The French-California menu is the best dinner in Nevada City. The bar, its base cast from the hotel's own salvaged cast-iron radiators, opens onto a Broad Street veranda that faces the same Victorian facades travelers have passed since 1856.
OPERATOR STORY
Lola is the in-house restaurant of the National Exchange Hotel, named for Lola Montez, the Irish-born dancer and Gold Rush celebrity who was one of the most colorful figures of 1850s California and a well-documented presence in Nevada City and Grass Valley. The restaurant is operated by Acme Hospitality as part of the hotel's 2019 to 2021 restoration, with a French-California menu served in the hotel's original Victorian dining room.
