EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

The bike path through Playa del Rey runs through coastal dunes before opening onto a flat, unobstructed stretch of Santa Monica Bay. North, the path passes through Venice and on toward Santa Monica, the waterfront growing livelier with each mile. South toward Dockweiler State Beach, the path quiets again, and planes descend over the water on final approach to LAX directly overhead, one of LA's stranger and more memorable stretches of coastline.

OPERATOR STORY

The Marvin Braude Bike Trail is a 22-mile paved coastal path managed by the City of Los Angeles, running the full length of Santa Monica Bay from Pacific Palisades to Torrance Beach. Named for the longtime Los Angeles City Councilmember who championed the path's development, it has been a free public amenity connecting the South Bay to the Westside for decades and remains one of the most used recreational corridors in Southern California.
