Mission Bay - Aqua Adventures

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Mission Bay is the protected inland bay directly behind Pacific Beach, a body of calm water that reads as a different world from the ocean side of the peninsula. Aqua Adventures sits on the bay's southwest shore, offering kayak, stand-up paddleboard, hydro bike, and outrigger canoe rentals from a waterfront dock. Harbor seals haul out in the marina; pelicans and sea lions are regular company on the water. The bay is flat and sheltered enough for beginners, large enough to feel genuinely exploratory. Open Tuesday through Sunday.

OPERATOR STORY

Aqua Adventures was founded in 2000 on Mission Bay and has been a cornerstone of San Diego's paddlesports community ever since. In 2017 it was purchased by U.S. Army veteran Craig Seering and his wife Ashleigh Conaway, who have continued building it as a locally rooted resource for the Mission Bay waterfront. The shop offers rentals, lessons, guided tours, and a full retail store from its waterfront location.
