The menu runs through hand rolled tamales, carne asada tortas, chile rellenos, and a chicken and rice soup regulars order on sight, all made the way they have always been made. Margaritas come in a few sizes and styles, and the bar fills up most evenings with a mix of locals who have been coming for decades and visitors who wandered in from the beach nearby. Group tables and patio seating make it an easy spot for a celebration or a quiet dinner.

OPERATOR STORY

A family opened this restaurant in 1976 and it has stayed in their hands ever since, now run by a third generation of the same family. The building itself carries deeper local history, tied to the same mid century era that first put Carlsbad on the map as a coastal getaway for Hollywood visitors. Fifty years on, the restaurant remains an independent, family-run fixture of the community rather than a chain or franchise operation.
