EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
Noyo Harbor is one of the last working commercial fishing harbors on the Northern California coast. North Harbor Drive runs the length of the wharf past fish-packing sheds, charter boat offices, and the Noyo Fish Company market, one of the few remaining places on the California coast where you can buy fish directly from the boats that caught it that morning. Harbor seals lounge on the dock pilings year-round; in season, brown pelicans and great blue herons work the water alongside the commercial fleet.
OPERATOR STORY
Noyo Harbor has operated as a working commercial fishing harbor since the 1880s. A small fleet of commercial boats still goes out daily for salmon, halibut, rockfish, and Dungeness crab, returning with catches sold directly through the Noyo Fish Company market on the wharf, one of the few places left on the California coast where you can buy fish from the boat that caught it that day. The harbor sits at the mouth of the Noyo River where it meets the Pacific, sheltered by bluffs on both sides.
