EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park follows 1.5 miles of eroded sandstone cliffs along the wild western edge of Point Loma, with sea caves that open at low tide and rocky outcrops where locals gather every evening to watch the sun drop into the ocean. The cliffs face due west, making this one of the most reliably spectacular sunset viewpoints in Southern California. In winter the same overlooks serve as gray whale watching spots.
OPERATOR STORY
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a 68-acre coastal park managed by the City of San Diego, stretching 1.5 miles along the western edge of the Point Loma peninsula. It protects a dramatic stretch of eroded sandstone sea cliffs, hidden sea caves accessible at low tide, and rocky pocket beaches. It is widely considered the best place in San Diego to watch the sunset, with the cliffs glowing orange over the open ocean.
