PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

A craftsman-style inn tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood in Playa del Rey, a small beach enclave between LAX and Marina del Rey, Inn at Playa del Rey offers something genuinely unusual for Southern California: a Four Sisters Inns property within walking distance of the Ballona Wetlands, where guests can watch egrets and herons from the inn's wraparound porch. The 22 rooms are individually furnished with comfort-focused antiques and reproductions, and the inn's proximity to the beach while being far from the tourist corridors of Santa Monica or Venice gives it a surprisingly serene character.

OWNER STORY

The Inn at Playa del Rey has been a Four Sisters Inns property since at least the 1980s, sitting across Culver Boulevard from the Ballona Wetlands, 640 acres of salt marsh representing one of the last remaining coastal wetlands in Los Angeles County. Four Sisters was founded in 1975 and passed in 2018 to two longtime company executives who continued operating the portfolio with an emphasis on genuine hospitality and individual character. The wraparound porch looks out over the wetlands, great blue herons and snowy egrets are visible from the breakfast room, and the reason to stay here over any other boutique hotel near the beach is the birds.
