PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Positioned on the high ground where the Gualala River bends west into the Pacific, the inn's five buildings offer rooms at various elevations and orientations. The corner suite captures the widest view arc, open ocean to the southwest, the river mouth below, and coastal hills to the north. Parquet floors, fireplaces, and ocean-facing windows create a warm coastal atmosphere. The inn is walking distance from the Gualala Arts Center, one of the most active community arts institutions on the North Coast, and minutes from kayaking on the Gualala River.OWNER STORY
The current owners have run the Gualala Country Inn for over 26 years, one of the longest continuous innkeeper tenancies on the Mendocino Coast. They arrived because this is where the Gualala River meets the Pacific, where harbor seals haul out on the sandbars below, and where a clifftop inn with ocean and river views is the kind of property you don't let go of. Twenty-six years of local expertise shows in every aspect of the stay: which viewpoint catches the whales in spring, which trail is best at low tide, which table captures both the river mouth and the open Pacific. That knowledge is not available in a brochure.
