Hidden Valley Inn was established in 1979 and ran for nearly four decades as Country Garden Inns, building its reputation around personal warmth and a signature waffle breakfast before the current owners acquired it and kept the independent character intact. The owners also run Glen Oaks Big Sur, the 1950s Highway 1 motor court they rebuilt into one of California's most design-conscious lodgings, and bring the same commitment to genuine independence to both properties. No brand affiliation, no institutional capital, a property that belongs to the valley it sits in.
