The inn's owner spent 20 years as a city planner before asking what a place could look like when every material, system, and ritual is oriented toward health and wellbeing. In 2017, she and her husband rebuilt a five-suite Encinitas property from the inside out, creating the world's first WELL Platinum certified hotel. The biodynamic farm in the courtyard supplies herb pouches in the soaking tubs, teas on arrival, and the breakfast basket at each door. Encinitas is the right place: Paramahansa Yogananda established his hermitage here in 1937 and the city has been a center of contemplative practice ever since.
