The owner bought an 850-acre cattle ranch north of Fort Bragg in 1986, largely sight unseen, and spent three decades expanding it to 2,200 acres. The inn opened in 2016 as a passion project. The 16 rooms incorporate local driftwood and redwood in Arts and Crafts architecture; most have private terraces with ocean or prairie views. The kitchen runs a farm-to-table menu sourced almost entirely within 50 miles. The owner's imprint is in the landscape itself: 15 hand-crafted driftwood benches placed at personally chosen vantage points throughout the ranch.
